A little about yourself as an LCCian in LCC (include year graduated if a graduate)
Grade 2 til College graduation (A.B. English '78) in LCC and even a year of masters in religious education (2000-01). Took a break and became a Rotary Exchange student in 1972-1973, my high-school graduation year. Abi ko tak-an na gid ko.

In those good old days in LCC H.S., we could leave our classes to do overtime work for the school paper, practice table-tennis for a tournament (won the championship in the National PRISAA Table-Tennis Girls Team competition), have a meeting of an organization. When I couldn't stand lectures, I entered a different world with a book in my lap. A few times, I actually "escaped" school. But one time that we did, we called Nang Luing and told her that we went out to practice. Tarantado. H.S. Principal Sr. Gliceria didn't summon me to her office when I masterminded a class escapo to watch Andromeda Strain, a Sci-Fi Movie.

5 years in college with three years doubl-timing between Architecture and A.B. English. Dropped out of Arch in my third year after I joined the World Chess Olympiad in Haifa, Israel. Got away with speaking Ilongo in AB English classes (Miss Murga, Dean of the college was my teacher). Actually joined a beauty contest for campus journalists. I hope to find some of my college friends through this website.
A little about yourself after LCC
Taught 3 years in LCC high-school, married Manuel Si, my college love a year after college, had 2 kids, started law-school in UNO-R, had 3 more kids, finished law-school (1986), took the bar and placed 6th, had 2 more kids. Practiced some, taught in the UNO-R college of law, got involved with NGOs. Got tired of law, took up and finished Master of Divinity (for protestant pastors).
A little about yourself now
I'm President of a feminist organization, Development through Active Networking Foundation, Inc. I retired from the practice of law but came back to defend the forest of Mt. Kanlaon from Energy Development Corporation's Geothermal project (website I made is http://geocities.com/savekanlaon. Another website is http://greenwatch.ning.com). I'm also involved with an Asian group of Catholic theologians: http://geocities.com/ecclesiaofwomen, also http://ecclesiaofwomen.ning.com.

The kids are grown. My eldest is married and has a son, with another coming. Only the youngest two left in school. I'm so retired I have a cat living in my bedroom. Sometimes my husband complains but we've climbed mountains and cycled long distances together. A cat isn't that much of a bother.

Blogging in LCCians of the World

Although we have many members who enjoy commenting on each other's pages here, bloggers are in short supply in LCCians of the World. Blogging is a very good outlet for self-expression, however. In other networks, people write blogs about everything, personal thoughts, travel experiences, memories and reflections, even to teach technical or legal matters.

Conquering Mountains at Mid-life (written 2004, part 1)

A long time ago, when I was twenty seven years younger and more certain that the world was made for me to conquer or to save, a two day climb up a mountain was a severe test of body and spirit. A silver wedding anniversary and 7 children later, I've decided that my life is not about conquering or saving the world but about being there for the neighbor who needs me. This greatly reduced view should make my life's directions a lot easier to follow. Unfortunately this is not so, hence the need for… Continue

Conquering Mountains at Mid-life (written 2004, part 2)

Three Days Til Easter 2004

The big mountain climbing challenge of my mid-life began at 12:45 p.m., Holy Thursday, after briefing, prayer, and group pictures near the old hospital in Patag (Patag is short for "Patag-awayan" or battlefield). Except for Josephine, the kids quickly disappeared with the lead pack as we made the initial ascent, an unpromising but tiring hot trudge through roads and paths leading past vacation houses of people we knew. Slower Josephine complained about the heat and t… Continue

Always (Celebrating Friendship)

What does it mean, "Always"?
Usually? Most of the time?
As a rule? A lot?
Frequently? Often?

Not always "always."
Not always "forever."
Not always "all the time."
Not always "everytime.
Not always.

Yet still as children "Always" meant
Impetuous promise, sacred pledge,
That two would be forever friends.
No matter what the years,
The circumstances that would tear
Two hearts apart
And leave them lonely
In two different worlds,
The bond would not be broken.
Ever.
Always.

But yet, where are the fr… Continue

Hi, Andrea. I just met my LCCian friend(Adelyn Diamante Sia) this evening and mentioned your name in our conversation. She have mentioned to me about your involvement in a volunteer work abroad with a group called "VSO Bahaginan". May I know more about this volunteer group on how I could keep in touch and inquire from them? thanks.
