A little about yourself as an LCCian in LCC (include year graduated if a graduate)
I'm a grade 10 student(4th year) and Computer(Java) was easy. We're now taking
up video production. I rock with my friends whenever there's a BotB at school.
A little about yourself after LCC
I'm gonna be a sys admin, or a game developer, or a webmaster...
Anything that's related to programming, rocking the command line, encryption,
and video games(Yes, I also mean anything that runs on curses(i.e ncurses,
PDcurses, etc.)
A little about yourself now
I'm 15 and I am the weapon. My command line is just a tool(Actually, more than
that but... nevermind) I love programming, encryption, pen N paper ciphers,
the command line, Linux, and Led Zeppelin. I frequently imagine awesome things.
Like... velociraptorCycles, programmable weapons(i.e Daggers(made in C),
Broadswords(Made in C++), Rocket Launchers(Made in Java),
Droids(Made in Python), or Viral darts(Made in x86 assembly)), Nitro de gelare,
and I also think that humans have each of their own assembly languages, which
God made for hackers all over the world to learn and use it to fight when
Sepiroth and Lavos, finally, fuse together, to create, LAVIROTH.

I like Guitar Shredding, Drum Rolling, and finding out ways to get the most
of any of my Speakers. Anything retro is cool, rogue, Chrono Trigger(I don't
even call this retro), The elvish word for friend, and FORTRAN!!!

I'm totally digging Pygame right now. There's nothing more fun
than developing games, pixel art, and math exponential growth
graphs with beautiful code.

/*You can see all my pics in my account here.*/

"""Awesome Lines.py"""
Something I got the idea of from a Pygame tutorial. Google lorenzo pygame and you'll know what I'm talking about. It was actually a challenge so I solved it. Haven't reached part 7 yet so this is my own personal solution to the challenge. I could show you the source code but it's totally for newbs and you wouldn't be interested because you could solve it yourself with no sweat! Then tweaked it since it looked kinda cool to put it a game. That's why I colored the 4 corners differently. Each corner has a corresponding element. The upper-left is for Earth, the upper-right is blue for Water, the bottom-right is white for Light, and the bottom-left is red for Fire. Hence, I named it 4 Elemental Room of Lektracuse. Other than the colors, I also thought up(Actually, daydreamed) of some cool events if the player solved the puzzle.

Google SketchUp
Yesterday, we went to my dad's parent's house for lunch. Some time after lunch, my uncle showed us some of his 3D models that he made in SketchUp. They were awesome! They looked like 2D sketches but you can, actually, move them around like 3D models.

When I got home, I logged on to my YM account to see if anybody was online. Apparently, no one was. I then downloaded Google SketchUp from Google... Obviously... I immediately started on my model.

I called it the House of Rock for lack of a better name. Here it is...

Very cool...

too bad about your video being late. When I saw the posters of the 4th year videos, I immediately thought of you and wondered how you'd fared. I do hope you were able to submit a work that the group could be proud of.

I heard about the videos that the tenth grade students made. I understand there was a competition? Nugon I wasn't able to watch your productions. Ditas Aves said there were a number of very well made videos. How did your video do in the competition? I'm glad you have this in LCC too.

Hi Ray. Thanks for introducing yourself yesterday. You look so much younger than your super serious photo and sadya pa sang imo hair-do. I was impressed by the Cheering exhibition. While I was watching, I was wondering if you were among the performers. Who was your trainer? Dali na lang graduation ninyo. Hope your college plans are already in place. Wishing you all the best.

Hi Ray. Sorry I wasn't able to respond to your last post. The Christmas season was super busy and January 2, i brought my mother to Manila to be hospitalized. I could read e-mail through my cellphone but I couldn't access lccians.ning.com. It's only today that she was discharged but she's not well at all. I'm lucky that in the room we're staying in, there is a computer. Actually, I'm still thinking about where to post what you posted about the photo sites. I want to focus on the 90th foundation week activities, including the gettogether in the US so I put that at the top of the main page. I'll look at this again tomorrow (actually in the morning) and see how I can rearrange things so that what you wrote about photos can appear. It might be a good idea if you post it as a new discussion. How about doing so and I'll feature it. Much easier for people to find a first post than to see a reply to an earlier post.

Hello Ray. It's been ten days since your last comment. I saw Sr. Myrna yesterday. She said she'll get a chorale to sing the LCCian songs. When she'll do that, I don't know. I already posted the words. If you have a group that wants to record the songs that you know, you can post your musical production here.

The THURD game that's playing in your head sounds interesting. The name is great - "Relentless Dreams" - WOW! I've never heard of a dream being described as "relentless" but it is true that there are dreams that keep coming back and demanding that they be given life of their own. I agree with what you wrote about computer programming. Even though I don't know much about programming, I know what you mean about having fun bossing the computer, messing around with code, making your own puzzles and solving them.

You said about your game "If I can make a small scale sample or demonstration. . . ." What's keeping you from making this sample, the lack of images for your creations? if you have these imagines, can you make your game? Jake Bilbao loves computer games, I think. I know he's busy with his comic book work but you never know. Perhaps you could send me a more detailed story with descriptions of some of the main characters. I will see how he responds if I ask him to sketch images for one or two to begin with.

How did your English teacher tell you about this site? Did she tell your whole class or just you? I don't think I've asked you if you're in the editorial board of the Rays, Ripples or whatever the school paper is called now.You write well and have good imagination, the kind a writer needs.

hi Ray John. I read the comment that you accidentally deleted. Nugon. The typo wasn't such a big mistake. On the other hand, it is good that you want your work to be free of typos and errors. That's a trait worth keeping. Sloppy work impresses no one. Why did you write in Ilongo this time? I don't enjoy reading Ilongo so go back to English because you write well in English. I told some of my kids and their friends (jake included) about this precocious high-school senior I enjoy writing to. When I said you write well, have lots of sci-fi ideas in your head, and you wish you could draw these, they suggested that you write. Why don't you?

I'm the one who is interested in computers and programming and I'm the one who thinks that this might interest my two sons. When I mentioned you to my youngest, who was playing a computer game with some cousins, it was a ten year old nephew who perked up when I said I have this friend who can teach how to make programs for gaming. I wish my kids would find something that grabs their attention and makes them want to learn everything that they can about the subject. Learning is so much fun but it seems that for them, learning is an unpleasant chore that they have to accomplish to be able to pass.

I hope you'll discover as the years pass that I am right to describe you as precocious. You do have many talents and your capacity to learn by yourself is one of the most important characteristics anyone can have. My father was a hard driver, very hard to please so I didn't have too good a self image of myself while I was in high-school and college because I never felt I was good enough for him. But one thing he said that made me feel good was that I could learn anything as long as I had a book I could study. You are proving to yourself with your computer programming studies, that when you really get an interest in something, you can learn to do what you want to do.

So if you really want to draw - there was this great drawing book that promised to teach anyone how to draw. I dont know where my copy is but I thought the author had very good points. One of his techniques was to get the person to copy a line drawing that was upside down. He said people don't know how to draw because instead of drawing what they actually see, they draw what they think they see. Copying a drawing that is upside down compels you to concentrate on the shape of the lines and the relationship of lights and shadows. I didn't have to do the drawing upside down because I copied it as easily while it was right side up but I think the idea was valid. I need to do some research to be able to tell you the book title. I do think that following the steps in drawing books will help. I've looked at some Mangga (Manga?) books. If I am not mistaken, they begin with basic shapes, looked easy. Actually, I haven't done any drawings in a while. Why are you so intent on drawing a monkey. I don't think I've ever seen a good drawing of a monkey (were you born in the year of the monkey? That's a year for very versatile and very intelligent persons with a naughty streak).

I hope something comes of my telling Sr. Myrna about you.

I have something wrong with my computer. After I've used it for some time, it just shuts down and restarts but when it restarts, it hangs. It's been to the repair shop more than five times because of this problem. I've written you several replies that were almost finished when the computer shut down. To make sure that doesn't happen again, I'm sending this now.

You can do an internet search for Jake Bilbao. There's a blogspot that he keeps, also a file in photobucket. Aside from drawing and painting, he loves dogs and climbs mountains.

Hi John. I just got a music teacher friend to write the notes of An Army of Youth. She promised to play this for me on Monday. I'm still asking for the lyrics of other songs. Mr. Randdie Cuello hasn't responded yet. He's a teacher in the college department. I already sent Sr. Myrna an e-mail to request that she have someone post the lyrics of our LCCian songs, also that you said you (I mentioned your name and described you as a precocious young man. Is she aware that you exist?) and your band might be able to produce a sang version of these songs. if you feel like being bold and asking her yourself, that might earn you a few points for initiative and siempre, since there's no voice recording yet of our LCC songs, you'll be accomplishing a first.

Thanks for explaining the difference between Computer Science and Computer Engineering. I have a son who finished Computer Science. I thought this was a course taken by people who can't pass the entrance exam for computer engineering. Unfortunately, he doesn't enjoy programming so he's passing time working in a Call Center. I told him about you and how you've started creating your own games. I think what he needs is to be able to create something that's fun, not a business application. I wonder if you can send me a sample of what you've been able to make and the code that goes with this. I'll show your work to my Computer Science son and to his younger brother. This might get them interested in programming for games.

There are already ning.com groups for programmers and digital artists. Physicists? You might want to look for existing networks instead of making a new group. Of course it is fun to have your own site but I've found lawyers making blogs in general sites and since their blogs are quite informative, they are included in yahoo searches. People can upload their creative writings, essays, whatever writings as blogs in their page. These should have more substance than the usual chatty comments. Many of us here are former editors or staffers of the Rays or Ripples, good chance for us to be "publishing" are writing again.

The Archi guy - of course he is good at Art. I was with a group of Fine Arts graduates one evening. They were bemoaning the fact that so much of Fine Arts work goes to ComSci majors who can do magic with computers. But here's a link to the comic book sketches of someone who might soon become my son-in-law. Jake does drawings by hand and sends scanned copies by e-mail to authors in the US. Of course he is given the concept but he's got this incredible ability to put down in paper, something that he sees only in his head. Link to Jake's Sketches

When I was a kid, I saw my mom drawing and it looked easy. We were also supplied with books on how to draw and paint. Have you ever tried looking at books that show you how to draw?

Sigue. Tell your mom that I hope she passes the bar this time. Just deciding to retake 18 years after graduation is a very courageous thing for her to do.

I know what you mean about gamers being without patience. Computer games are a far cry from playing chess (do you play? You sound like you could do well in this game).

Hey RJ,
Are you related to Vincent(my batchmate) and Dean Alovera? During college years... I'd seen a boy tagging along Vincent or Sir Alovera?

Just asking... Cheers!

I was also very good in Math, Geometry, Trigonometry, not just English and Law. My High-School Math teacher and I made a game of looking for mistakes in each other's work, in her case in what she taught or how she checked our tests and quizzes, in my case if I had a mistake in my exams. There was always joy in her face and voice when she'd see me after exams and tell me, "may sala ka to sa exam nimo." We were more friends than student and teacher, plus I made her proud when, in my second year, I won first place in an Algebra Quiz contest participated in by representatives of other schools. I beat even third year contestants. Whenever she couldn't make it to class, I substituted as teacher. Before I graduated from college, I was teaching first year high-school Math. I was also fairly good in drawing so I took up three years of Architecture. Didn't have original design in my list of talents, though.

Sometime, you should record your music. I'm looking for the loyalty song, Alma Mater Song, and other LCCian traditional songs with lyrics and not just the music. Do you also have a good voice, siempre, Rockstar. In my list of things to learn - voice lessons and guitar. I got a Yamaha guitar after I passed the bar exam, my gift to myself and I played a little, just notes. Don't know how to strum the way that others strum.

My youngest son is your age. He's in Don Bosco now and his elective is Computers. He loves gaming but I don't know if he'll learn how to program for games there. I hope so because he also wants to take up something that has to do with computers when he goes to college.

Your Mom works in the Hall of Justice, right? I think she's a Court Annexed Mediator, like me.

I'm sure you'll get to write a lot of interesting stories with your life, Ray John. Keep in touch.

Thanks for adding your picture. You can add your former "pic" and other computer generated stuff in your page. Let people see what you can do. There's an Archi guy here who is working with Lucas Studios. He added some of the animated videos that he produced. The guy is Eric Dima-ala. He started the forum discussion "Arfien Digital Support Thread."

1st and 2nd in Battle of the Bands!!!- Family day

You heard right. It was awesome! That means that I have 2 bands that won in 2 different places. I don't have the vids and pics yet but I'll put them up once I get them. Let me explain the details in the next paragraph.

First, I'll talk about my band that won 2nd. I was, actually, surprised that we came 2nd. The only song we practiced well was "That's What You Get" by Paramore. Then, we practiced the 2 other songs during family day. We only practiced the 2 songs with an acoustic guitar but we go… Continue
