Profile Information

A little about yourself as an LCCian in LCC (include year graduated if a graduate)
I do not know why my parents enrolled me in LCC when they can barely support nine kids. Maybe because I needed discipline when I was in elementary school or maybe I told them that if have to go back to school it has to be in LCC. What ever the reason was, I am glad I am an LCCian. Elem class of '69.

In High School, I do not have many friends but I never met anyone that made me feel that I do not belong in LCC. I think I was invited to a Christmas party at Andrea Lizares’ house or maybe it was a dream…. Anyway, I had the best “barkada”, Joji Jaboneta Velasco, Carmelita Caballero, Eileen Joy Alindao Labansa and Jessica Balibalos. It was fun playing volleyball with Antonia; I remembered scrapping my knees on the concrete ground.

There are times that it was difficult. We are poor and here I am in LCC, my parents must really love me. Finally, 1973 graduation time – I gained discipline, values, knowledge, perseverance that prepares me to face life after LCC.

Well, it is 1974 and I am still here in LCC for BS in Commerce. I think I completed 60 hours but unable to continue.
A little about yourself after LCC
I married Randall Worden and immigrated to United States in 1976. My husband encouraged me to go back to school. I went part-time and graduated with Associates Degree in Computer Science. I was a stay at home mom when Chris and Jeff were little. In 1988, I started working in the IT Department of OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, a catholic hospital owned by the Third Order of Saint Francis
A little about yourself now
I am married for 33 years; live in Rockford, IL the whole time I am in US. Our sons; Chris is in Scottsdale, AZ and Jeff lives 45 minutes north of Rockford. In addition, we have a cute grandson, Braeden. My husband, Randy, is an IT Application manager. Currently, I am working as a Business Systems Analyst at OSF Healthcare System. Right now, I am very busy as a part of implementation team for the new EPIC EMR systems. Besides being a BSA, I will be one of the Principal Trainers of the new EPIC EMR System for the Revenue Cycle. Midwest winter is too harsh so Randy and I make it a point to go to a warmer climate 1-2 weeks every January or February.

Thanks for popping in despite your hectic schedule. You do have an interesting job. How about deerhunting in September? My bro in law does it each year and each time, I am tempted to make plans. I dont know what can happen this year as its my sis from MO who will provide the financing for the new construction of the burned home in Villamonte. Maybe, we will be doing double time on rebuilding the home. My sis is a realtor in Springfield and I enjoyed my time too visiting homes when she needs to bring clients around. The winters over there are harsh too, and my sis would be able to come home more often soon as she builds her own home here. Arent you interested in buying a retirement in the philippines too? How about the Pacific Place developed by the Lizares (Andrea's bro heads the firm)? I am not paid for this advertisement. I am more of a spectator but did hold a club for an occassion or two but just to try it. You could enjoy that in the Philippines too when you and your family visit. Its a lifestyle for the rich and famous back here and that is totally detached from my realities in life.

What do I do for FUN? Cant seem to answer that soI guess I am boring too....LOL...A Happy Easter to you and your family when you get back from your vacation..Be safe!

Hi Mel,
How are you na? Your family? Still busy with works or busy playing golf na on weekends? Travelling again? All I can say is, make the most of your time whether it's work or pleasure. Here, the days are growing warmer and more humid. Summer's here and along with it come halo-halos, fruit shakes (mango, buko, melon, watermelon, avocado, you name it) humm sarap, so refreshing...and beaches, of course. It's a long weekend, so we're hitting the beach. Not in Boracay this time, siyempre tipid anay. I'm sure we'll enjoy naman the outing, away from the city life. Well, this is all for now. Peter and I both send you and your family our love and constant thoughts. Have a peaceful and meaningful Holy Week. God bless.

oh, about your sister working in Branson, been to Branson once with my sis family and its a great drive out there. I love the american countryside far better than the cosmopolitan areas and saw that they have fiercely protected their forestlands too.I've taken the Greyhound by myself from Springfield City all the way to Washington DC...the leg from DC to NY is want I intend to do next time. I hope God allows me to do that soon. We lost our family home in Villamonte to a fire Thursday early morning. I was in Bacolod Friday and during the weekend to see how things are. It was a good thing that my sister was awake as sleep kept on evading her, she was able wake up everyone, tani, lechon guid sila tanan. God has his plans and purpose. I dont feel deprived with the outpouring of support of friends and family. All my siblings have been St Jo Alumni of Villamonte and their deep involvement manifested in the way they have supported our family through the disaster. I have also met our counterpart years in Orange County at Hedda's Place to celebrate Wila's birthday in 2006. As I was saying, kilala ko man sila gani coz I know these boys, now honorable family men, balding but respectable I must say. It would be great to bring all this network of negros alumni to a common cause for Negros development...hmm just musing..sorry got to go...CIAO!

Hi Melanie: Great to be back on the site after a couple of months of hiatus. Public service keeps on pushing me off my funtimes. Of course, I could rattle your name as part of 73 HS but I must admit you do look far more sophisticated now (siempre guid eh) and I wont recognize you if bumped into each other. Cant imagine you being a grandma, with such looks, must be a function of the good married life that you have now. Wow, in this day and age when marriages remain fragile, I see marriages among our batchmates as being solid and way on their 20th to 30th..could you be the longest married from our batch? You married before I even graduated, I must confess I still remain a girl deep inside. Few people see me with my smile and keep that in their memories. But yes, I have a fun and happy side that gets shelved when i need to tackle my share of the family burden, being the eldest in the family of ten. The happy side is what I intend to keep till I get to be a hundred..LOL..just teasing. I left LCC for UNO-R for college but will always remain an LCCian. But I like the mix of experiences that happened in my schooling years though forced by economic circumstances of the family back then. I had three years of public elementary school and got back to LCC to finish high school. The Recoletos ground brought me to a bigger circle of friends too from both the southern and northern parts of Negros, but also provided me with the opportunity to enrich my wealth of friends and classmates. And the most of all, I saw that we all make up one circle of life coz we all end up bumping into each other despite varied alumni associations and school gatherings. My most recent dicovery is one of my college classmate was Luisa's classmate back in elementary and the three of us just had to meet to confirm that circle. It really great! Hope to you see one day but i hope not when we are in our 60's ..LOL..bisan in our 50s pa tani...Take care and best regards to your family!

Hi Melanie. Thanks for your note about Mom. Grabe ka, you even remember what she wore when you had brunch with her in the US. How did she happen to have brunch with you? Because of Yolanda Precioso? I really can't imagine how you got to know my Mom well enough for you to be meeting on one of her trips to the US. Anyway, I remember Yoly Precioso and Rose Garcia very well. I'm glad you're in contact with Yoly. As for the Christmas party in our old house in Lizares compound, we did have class parties in the house when we were in high-school so what you remember is probably correct. Nugon I didn't get to see you when you were in Bacolod. I think I was in Manila or somewhere else.

hi Melanie, its me Joji V. just signed up Lccians website, found you through Rodolfo Castillo's page. Great to see you here. Its been almost 4 years since we've last seen each other. So how's everything with you and your family? Though your last visit in Bacolod was short, it was a memorable one for me. Hope we see each other again soon, and once again reminise(spelling?} our good old days in high school.take care always.
