I see a lot of improvements in our school everyday when I go to work as I always passby lcc going to work. Im just sad though and I guess missing the familiar buildings of our alma mater. the structures that I grew up with. It would have been nicer if the facade of these buildings were preserve, because in my own layman's intelligence of architecture it can be done. I hope they won't uproot our kalachuchi for modernization sake....
till then....
to the alumnis who will join the festivities enjoy and have fun!
me i can't, as i work on weekends :)
i got read your comment about the the "missing familiar buildings",,,,,,, i guess youre referring to the wooden old, dilapidated music hall and HE building that have been declaredas fire hazards.....maybe i will let the External Affairs Office of the school or the ALumni Affairs Office to make a write up... and give some explanations regarding the on-going infrustructure development taking place in the main campus... so that the community of LCCIANS especially the alumni sector will be informed....'
do come for your alma mater's 90th foundation festivities......it will surely make a difference.... and be a part of the powerful legacy...leading to 2019
Sr. Myrna and fellow LCCians,
I am sorry I will miss the 90th year celebration of LCC.
I still would like to see a strong alumni support of our alma mater.
1) We had some discussions in the past about a) Ongoing feel welcome program for every alumni that visits LCC. b) A tree of Hope to encourage and recognize donors. c) a campaign to complete class list with basic personal & contact info for every alumni that come to their jubilee reunion and all they can add to the list in their respective classes, added on as classmates and/or co-LCCians are located. This website is great! This can be the vehicle to complete that list. Our Egroup never took off.
2) How about a wish list from LCC of what is needed listed by priority and
cost, ongoing, and updated to encourage legacy giving by Jubilarian class or individuals. They can pick from the LCC wishlist.
3) A legacy by jubilarian class campaign by a committee focused mainly on this, getting jubilarians involved two years ahead of time.
All these will be voluntary of course, we can only ask. Just suggestions.
Yes I heard about the Music Hall and H.E. bldg. I was one of your many piano students, my teachers were Sister Judith and Ms. Galang. Yes I was saddend too but I guess it had to go when it had to. I remember just hanging around there till it was my turn. Sometimes I was at awe to see all the dolls of Ms. Galang, and asking where she got it, what It was like to see such countries, It was really a piano room and museum all in one, really learned a lot from it plus of course Ms. Galang is a great piano teacher. I remember three other rooms there, Ms. Gabiosa's, Mrs. Ramos' and Ms. Penafiel ( I just forgot who's room was it before ms. Penafiel). The one I was referring to are my classrooms along Galo St. which I really saw demolished when I was about to go to work, so it was quite a surprise just passing by. Anyway Sister Maria, as much as I want to visit LCC this weekend I cannot as my co. will have a sale event, I'm closing shift too. So here's my best wishes to you and my fellow alumnis!
