Advent Reflections
Eve Thoughts on Mary's Fiat When you hear Mary being praised for her fiat, don't you sometimes think, "How else could she have responded?" I mean this is God telling you what He plans for you and He's talking about a starring role in the all time great history of humankind. It's your chance for the biggest break of your life. Surely, you are going to say “Yes. Of course. Anytime. All the time. Anything for you, Lord.” By Andrea Lizares Si (HS Class '73)
God Gave Us Weeds, One afternoon of a particularly disappointing and exhausting week, I went on a rampage against the easiest targets, the weeds in my garden. It was good therapy, rooting out weeds as I would root out and rid myself of tiresome habits, wrong attitudes, helplessness and frustration that made it impossible for me to do productive and meaningful work. In the course of the slaughter, I fought with God and myself about the curse of being gifted and the merits of giving in to peaceful mediocrity.. . .A charming little story for discouraging times, by Andrea Lizares Si (HS Class '73).
Conquering Mountains at Mid-life A long time ago, when I was twenty seven years younger and more certain that the world was made for me to conquer or to save, a two day climb up a mountain was a severe test of body and spirit. A silver wedding anniversary and 7 children later, I've decided that my life is not about conquering or saving the world but about being there for the neighbor who needs me. This greatly reduced view should make my life's directions a lot easier to follow. Unfortunately this is not so, hence the need for a project which, though less complicated than making sense of life, would be more difficult than a two day climb.Midlife thoughts by Andrea L. Si
Dear Mrs. Verdadero Mrs. Judith Verdadero, our teacher from 1961 or earlier til retirement in 1998, taught English, Speech, History, Pilipino, Religion, Music, Science, etc. in the High-School Department. Known to many students as a terror, she pushed us to do our best and produced many champions in speech, debate, music, cheering, and various other competitions. On November 5, 2008, former students and faculty members joined for a dispedida/tribute/birthday celebration to honor our Mrs. Verdadero. This thread contains letters from students and friends, an audio-visual presentation, link to the photos of the event, and an attached copy of the "Dear Mrs. Verdadero" book which we presented as our going away gift. Anecdotes/Stories about Mrs. Verdadero Tribute to a Teacher Roberto Parcon (HS Class '72) relates an unforgettable experience of an unforgettable teacher, Miss Elizabeth Calvez (later, Mrs Cabuguas) - After a while, my self-appointed tormentor Ms. Beth was dragging me through dismal thorny forest & rocky river trail, up towards the 7th waterfalls of Mambucal when my chubby, immature & un-trained 7 yr old body simply refused to go any further. After fainting several times, I felt I was gladly going to meet my creator that very day at that desolate riverbed, but unfortunately, Ms. Beth kept on reviving me. That was the 1st time that my uttermost juvenile limits were tested beyond human endurance. But Ms. Beth kept on encouraging me onwards; I still couldn’t figure out how but we finally reached that falls despite fatigue, agony, dehydration, cuts and bruises on my part, while she seemed to be having the time of her life!
Under the Calachuchi
Always What does it mean, "Always"? Usually? Most of the time? As a rule? A lot? Frequently? Often? Not always "always." Not always "forever." Not always "all the time." Not always "everytime. Not always. Yet still as children "Always" meant Impetuous promise, sacred pledge, That two would be forever friends. No matter what the years, The circumstances that would tear Two hearts apart And leave them lonely In two different worlds, The bond would not be broken. Ever. Always. - A celebration of friendship by Andrea Lizares Si (HS Class '73)
LCC Wouldn't Be LCC Without Of course we have the image of our Lady of Consolacion, LCC's seal, the Song of Loyalty, the Alma Mater Song, the Calachuchi tree, the Cathedral Steps, the good old auditorium, our Augustinian sisters in black and white - timeless and imperishable all (long live the calachuchi). But for every person and for every class, there are people who left indelible impressions in our hearts and minds, impressions that are one with our memories of LCC. You don't have to say why you named these people. If you don't remember their names, just describe their positions. It should be fun to compare answers. 1. Classmates (maximum of 20); 2. Schoolmates (maximum 10); 3. Teachers (maximum 10); 4. Augustinian Sisters; 5. Administration and Employees (maximum of 10)
6. Outsiders who were always in LCC (ex. the photographer)
Eli Aragon - 1953-2008 Eli was LCC High-School's Clint Eastwood in the early 70s. This thread includes pictures of Eli in high-school and fond memories of classmates and schoolmates.

Bitchology When I stand up for myself and my beliefs, they call me a BITCH.When I stand up for those I love, they call me a BITCH.When I speak my mind, think my own thoughts or do things my own way, they call me a BITCH. Being a bitch means I won't compromise what's in my heart. It means I live my life MY way.It means I won't allow anyone to step on me.. . posted by Josa Kriska Ramirez Berona (HS Class 2002)
Stewards of God's Creation
No Law to Allow the Sale, Rape, or Murder of Mother Earth . . . .So now we know what tribal people who live close to the earth and are sensitive to its rhythms know. The earth is a living being and our lives are intertwined with hers. And since it is the earth that gives us life and sustains life (you can say God through the earth), it is no wonder that we say "Mother Earth." by Andrea Lizares Si (Counsel of the Coalition to Save Mt. Kanlaon).
The Origin of Gaia Tyrin (My baby's name)- - - The Gaia hypothesis is an ecological hypothesis that proposes that living and nonliving parts of the earth are viewed as a complex interacting system that can be thought of as a single organism. Named after the Greek earth goddess, this hypothesis postulates that all living things have a regulatory effect on the Earth's environment that promotes life overall., , , by Josa Kriska Ramirez Berona, HS Class 2002
