Six months after LCCians of the World was created, we have 1,432 members and I'm sure I'm not alone in looking forward to the day when we'll have thousands of LCCians here. But try finding a name or a classmate among a thousand or more names.
Making sure you can be found:
1. Include your surname, please. Use your first name, nickname and middle name if you wish, and definitely your surname and your married name if married. Sometimes people remember only the family name. Or your family name might help others find classmates or friends who are related to you. Don't use a hyphen as this might confuse the search. Do a test search for your family name and see if your profile turns up.
2. Putting your year of graduation in parenthesis after your name will make you easier to spot because that information will be immediately available when someone looks at the members pages. As we have elementary, high-school, and college graduates here, (no need to put elementary graduation year if you also finished high-school in LCC) use a format like the following: "Andrea Lizares Si (HS '73, AB English '78)"
3. When you write about yourself as an LCCian, include the year of graduation and the course that you finished in LCC. If you didn't graduate in LCC or you were in LCC only in your gradeschool, mention that you would have graduated with the HS Class of _____ if you'd continued in LCC.
4. Join your class or college group even if you didn't graduate with your classmates or you were in LCC only for your gradeschool. The hard-to-find, dearly missed classmates are usually those who didn't graduate with us.
5. In the members page, do a test search for your year of graduation or your course. For instance, Architecture and Commerce graduates should be able to find their profiles when they do a search using the word "Architecture" or "Commerce." If you graduated in 1968, a search in the members page for 1968 should produce your profile.
5. When I do a search of USA or United States (example only), I get very few profiles even though there are many who have indicated that they are in the USA. It seems the search engine recognizes "United+States" in the text of what you wrote about yourself, not in the basic information (name, sex, city, country) section. So those in the same countries can have an easier time finding each other, include your location in the basic information section and also as part of your answer to "A little about yourself now."
Please find time to revise your profile if this is needed. Of course a photo will also help friends find you.
