"What Stylistic Of Art Are We In Now?"

I think this question is a general question in so many ways. First, When You say "We", are you asking the people in
Bacolod, Negros, Philippines, or the world? 2nd, Are You referring to the "Art Style" We commonly used in
The Philippines or in the whole world? Third , When You Say "Now" are you referring to the Current Date 2009 or the
21st Century?

Anyway Based on my "common sense", I Guess You were Asking about The Direction and Common Used Art Style of Today?

If Your Answer is Yes. Then I would Agree to Eric Dimaala , That the Common Art Style Being used Today is the Digital Art. If there is a Renaissance period, there is as of now "The Advent of Digital Art". I know the "purists" can't still accept that, but historians will surely note this time that indeed it was the Advent of The Digital Art.

But I would heavily disagree to abandon The "Traditional Way " of Doing Art. DIgital art is but just a way to express art. The Traditional Way of Doing art is Incomparable compare to Digital since The Traditional way is still accessible to all.
The basic and the best ways of training yourself to draw or do art is to go back to the very basic way, which is traditional.
The problem of Other Artists is their tendency to be afraid of change and influence of time specially the "Pure Traditional Artist". And most of them doesn't realize that NAPAG IWANAN na sila ng panahon.

The problem in The Philippines is the economy and values itself specially in the government, so most of our people and artists do not have access on the computers. So let's take that as a factor, But with the Highlights of The "Internet Era",
The world is gearing up and embracing to the Digital Art. I think Our government should consider that.

Art is also influenced by time in so many ways, so let us not forget about the History of The art. That , as an Artist we also need to Explore and Evolve, we are natural visionaries, do not be afraid of change coz we can always make a change within ourselves.

My personal advise, don't stop doing what you love to do but never stop from learning.:)

Sorry Migu Mark and the rest. I strongly agree with Eric. Mahuhuli ang LCC. Sa competitive world kung hindi sila sumabay sa agos. Actually wigit na guid. Pls. I dont intend to offend anyone. Technologies and softwares are upgraded each year and another 3 years to come. Kasan o lang ang Photoshop 7. Subong Photoshop CS4 na. Just like Eric said. I also learn Photoshop by blessing kay man halin man ta sa pinakanubo na position sang una. Di ko gani to maexpect na makabalo Photoshop when somebody, my officemate and a friend who generously share not only the basics but the techniques of Photoshop to me. hanggang ngayon i keep on searching him. His contact to thank him. Basi mangakig lang galing si Eric kung isugid ko plano namon ni John Becaro sa Arfien. Sigurado guid nga pasalamatan nila ina nga plano kung matabu man.
Haaaay. Its been an ODD days to remember after college finding, landing a Job in a competitive world. Sa manila pa lang. Di maagwanta ang competition. Ga luluha man ko kon ma dumduman ko. Pati man ang sakripisyo sang mga Arfien people.
The bottomline is traditional and digital art can be merged. Mas may edge lang galing kung damo ka interests which means damo ka ma learn or your open to learning not just Digital media art for visual arts or Movie but in Sound such as Sound engineering - your editing sounds which is also associated in one of an art aspect, only you cant see but you will appreciate it by hearing. For me it doesnt matter how or what did you do. What matters is how your artwork came out and was accepted with the world.

To answer the Question above- We have a Various Art in our Country not to mention there is Architecture/Painting/Photography/Sculpture/Music/Writing/Acting and Performing Arts such as Theater arts. That explains why Philippines is one of a Kind RICH in Culture Country in the world.
Art on its broader sense has different aspect and so we have to specify one. I bet what you are in mind right now is pertaining to visual arts (anything that you can see except music). Probably in Painting? Comics creation? Illustration? or Cinema. Each aspect in visual arts i mention(but actually there are lots so overwhelming) has different Style and medium used. It is for the artist to make it rule the world. There is no such thing as a very good Art style as long as you are charming enough to influence the minds of the audience to like your art. That is where the art of marketing came in. Lots of people claim themselves an artist. That is true. Somebody did not even mind the art of persuasion has been throughout their life by selling their Artwork through marketing. I am talking here about the people who Honed their skills through art at the same time making money. They invest for it. In return they gain from it. The bottom line is if you have marketing skills which sometimes comes in small ways to big ones can be a big difference. That is where PR and Advertising agency emerges.
Lets make it clear that Painting is claimed by some artist as their own expression to create art. For some its a hobby. The only difference is sometimes a hobby or nothing spectacular can be a selling spree and liked by the audience because its exceptional and with heart. They call it x factor in an art piece. Time comes where National Artists emerges. Their art was accepted by the society. The only problem sometimes they appoint someone who is not qualified and is in wrong category to label them as national artist. Lots of artist are hunger for that acceptance. Lots of them are qualified. Really a sad world to stand for.
Graphic design, comics and other art are just a major medium to convey a message to an audience. mangin tin-aw tani ini sa aton tanan. I korek nyo kung may sala sa mga ginpangsulat ko. :)

A dedication to Price and fellow ARFIENSs...
Art can be perceived as a time tested product of an individual or collective original creation from ones passions, experiences, and culture...
That it be developed under traditional, conventional, or digital medium, oil on canvas or digital pixels on published material is bound by ones preferences, conveniences or applications. Style is the encapsulation of such artful expression.
As volume of art pieces are published with digital equipments, so are thousands of commissioned art work created and traded with paint brushes...
The fundamentals that you had learned and so continue to develop will prevail upon your professional success.
