Mrs. Verdadero was forever the teacher in LCC so her students go way back to the sixties or earlier. With all the thousands who owe part of themselves to her efforts, there should be a multitude of stories waiting to be told. In an e-mail yesterday, I received the first story from Daisy Mae Taleon of the Class of '78. Daisy wrote:

I remembered her screaming while we were running down the hallway, kay na-dakpan kami galagaw during study period.....he!he!he!.....that was fun, kay man mga dungol mo!
She may not be able to remember me but she will surely remain in my memory....I remembered,
she gave me the assignment to do "Dairy Products of Switzerland" for the logbook...I think,
I was in my second year high school ....and we didn't have computers then....ti, e-type mo manually 200 pages eh!....... I don't know if my logbook is still in the library?!
Anyway,......to Mrs. Verdadero....."Thank you and God Bless!"

With the tribute/dispedida for Verdad (of course that's what we called her behind her back) only 4 days away, I hope we can gather stories and pictures to roll back the years for a dedicated teacher who knew just how to teach.

Please post your stories/anecdotes/pictures as comments in this discussion page.

If it were not for the distance, I would have love to attend and honor this great teacher, mother and friend whom I consider as one of my greatest mentors in my student life. Thank you Mrs Verdadero for the inspiration you have given me to become the Rotary Spelling and Gen. Info 6th semi finalist in 1981 and eventually the Spelling Bee Champion of LCC HS in 1982. Whenever there is a spelling challenge, Mrs Verdad will always be in my mind. I wish I can see her when I visit Manila again next year. I will always remember that year when LCC HS triumphed in the Negros Occ Rotary Spelling and GI Contest wherein Raymond Trespicio became the champion, Agnes Verdadero was the 2nd placer, Sharon Jane Legaspi and Tiny Verdadero and I became semi finalists. No other school came close to that record. I also remember her mentorship during the LCC HS versus St Scholastica's Academy Debate wherein Sharon Legaspi became the best debater, Cheryl Lynn Buencochillo and Maybelle Yulo became best speakers. That schoolyear 1982-83 LCC HS trumpled St Scho in the English Debate. Mrs Verdadero's teaching legacy and inspiration will be forever etched in my memory and I indebted to her my spelling prowess whichever corners of the globe I may be. I am very much honored to be mentored by this wonderful, eloquent, brilliant and inspiring English teacher.

Wishing her the best in life,
Irlando
