lccians.ning.com Creator Subpoenaed for Joining Protest Climb to Protect Mt. Kanlaon from Geothermal Project

Find more photos like this on LCCian Shutterbugs

Not very many LCCians in the group, actually but lccians.ning.com creator Andrea Lizares Si was among the leaders of the climb and now she's the one defending the protesters in a case that could earn them 6 months to six years in jail. Andrea's also the lead counsel in the case to keep geothermal development out of the primary forest of Kanlaon. This slideshow is posted here as a way of asking why aren't there more LCCians involved in fighting for our environment?

For more on the issue:

169 hectares of primary forest were converted into a buffer zone for Geothermal Development. The area is pristine primary forest with high biodiversity and a number of threatened or endangered species. It should have remained protected area. http://www.travelpod.com/travel-blog-entries/savekanlaon/1/1212793740/tpod.html

And you calling me colored ?

This poem was nominated by UN as the best poem of 2008, written by an
African kid

When I born, I black
When I grow up, I black
When I go in Sun, I black
When I scared, I black
When I sick, I black
And when I die, I still black

And you white fellow
When you born, you pink
When you grow up, you white
When you go in sun, you red
When you cold, you blue
When you scared, you yellow
When you sick, you green
And when you die, you gray

And you calling me colored ?

complexion, the white people are religiously tanning
themselves, whenever they could, under the sun or some
artificial light, just to approximate the Filipino complexion.

Filipinos are a touching people
We have lots of love and are not afraid t… Continue
